(1) I rode in the back of my parents' Toyota as we drove to two different places to celebrate Christmas - yes, much the same as I did at age 11.
(2) On my birthday, I was treated to an outdoor party during 25 degree weather...oh did I mention that the party was outdoors because my whole family was riding a horse around a pasture while I was inside? And they all wanted cake. I did lose a bet to my mother who felt certain we COULD light candles on the cake in the wind. (granted she had family members helping shield - is that cheating?)
(3) I finally got the courage up to ask a guy to be my date to a big party at the Alpaca Farm where I used to work...only to have him tell me he's "possibly, maybe, he's not sure, but might be dating someone else". Um, thanks for that definitive explanation, my friend. Apparently, it was best that I stop crushing on him IMMEDIATELY!
(4) And finally, I got a reassurance from my dad's cousin. She was telling me the story of a lady in her 50s who "just got married for the first time"! She ended this story by leaning over to me and saying in stage whisper, "So, see, it's not too late."
